The Plague (Monthly)
A grim image – the plague – a disease that has prevented, over the centuries, who knows how many Michelangelos, Raphaels, Leonardos and countless others – excellent painters, sculptors, writers, poets, etc. – from being known and honoured; how many probable historical excellences it has crushed into a mass grave!
It is true, as it happens, that ‘Life is but a walking shadow, a poor actor who struts and frets during his hour on the stage, and then is heard no more’. A tale told by an idiot, full of noise and fury, signifying nothing.
(William Shakespeare – Macbeth)
